What it is
The Kress RTKⁿ KR161 is a wire-free robot mower in Kress’s Mission RTKⁿ line, sold on the official US store at kress.com/en-us. This listing is the ¼-acre / KR161 model only: WooCommerce product id 1292954, SKU KR161, a simple product. The in-box name on the same page is Kress Mission RTKn 1000 KR161.
It is not the larger Mission RTKⁿ siblings on the same US catalog (KR172 ½ acre, KR173 ¾ acre with OAS, KR174 1¼ acre with OAS), and it is not the EyePilot or MasterSeries models.
From the official US Technical specifications tab and the North America owner’s manual PDF linked from that page (checked 5 Oct 2026):
- Maximum lawn size / cutting area: 0.25 acre (spec table); manual 1/4 acre (1000 m²)
- Navigation: Kress RTKⁿ satellite guidance; page copy: centimeter-level accuracy without a station antenna on your property, no perimeter wire
- Max slope: 40% on the spec table; manual row Maximum slope within the work surface 40%
- Cutting diameter / width: spec table 7 7/8 in; manual 7.87’’ (20 cm)
- Cutting height: 1.57–3.54 in (40–90 mm), electronic, 11 positions (manual)
- Blades: 3; self-leveling blade disc marked
- Battery: 4 Ah Li-Ion, pack KA3024; voltage row 20 V (manual footnote: max no-load 20 V, nominal 18 V)
- Charge time: manual approx. 180 min; charger KA3732
- Weight: 26.48 lbs (12 kg)
- Noise: 59 db (spec table “Sound level perceived”)
- Water protection: IPX5; hose cleaning marked
- Connectivity: 4G marked on the spec table; App and LCD marked
- Navigation pattern: Systematic
coverageAcres is that 0.25 acre maximum lawn size, not a daily rate. The manual footnote says the total cutting area across active presets should not exceed the recommended size.
Who it’s for
This fits a lawn whose mowable area is within 0.25 acre, where you want virtual boundaries instead of buried wire, and where you do not want to site a fixed RTK base station on the property. Kress’s page says RTKⁿ uses the brand’s network of base stations so the mower gets correction data without extra yard hardware. The published work-area slope is 40%.
Plan the install before you buy. There is no perimeter wire, but the packing list still includes a charging base, charging tower, RTK antenna, antenna wrench, magnetic strip, staples, and nails. You still place the charging hardware and mount the included antenna. 4G is marked on the US spec table for this SKU.
Skip it if the grass area is past a quarter acre: step up the Mission RTKⁿ line (KR172 and above) or another brand. Skip it if you need a published AWD rating or a slope at the 70%+ class — this page’s maximum is 40% inside the work surface. No separate boundary-slope percent is published beyond that work-surface row, so slopePercent is 40.
Standout details
- Cut: floating / self-leveling disc, 7.87 in diameter, three blades, electronic height 1.57–3.54 in. Manual no-load blade speed 2700/min. Narrower deck than many 0.5–1 acre AWD machines.
- Drive and slope: spec table lists Front wheels: 2 and Maximum slope 40%. The page does not call this model AWD, so
driveTypeis omitted. Manual: maximum slope within the work surface 40%. - Navigation: RTKⁿ without a property base station; dead reckoning under weak satellite signal is listed in the key-features copy; systematic parallel coverage; multi-zone. OAS (obstacle avoidance) is marketed on larger KR173/KR174 pages, not as a KR161 row.
- In the box (US page list): Kress Mission RTKn 1000 KR161 ×1, charging base ×1, charging base fixing nails ×6, charging tower ×1, charger KA3732 ×1, battery pack KA3024 ×1, RTK antenna ×1, wrench for RTK antenna ×1, magnetic strip ×1, spare blades ×9, screws for fixing blades ×9, hex keys ×1, measurement gauge ×2. Pegs are also listed on the page packing block.
- Purchase terms (15 Oct 2026): US buy box $1,050.99 sale from $2,099.99 (it was $1,499.99 on 5 Oct 2026); schema.org Offer USD 1050.99, InStock. Product is purchasable via the US storefront add-to-cart endpoint for product id 1292954. Tax and shipping are excluded from that figure.
Page / source notes:
- Cutting width wording: Technical specifications tab prints 7 7/8 in; the NA manual prints 7.87’’ (20 cm). This listing uses 7.87 for
cuttingWidthIn. - Voltage: spec table 20 V; manual rated voltage 20V Max.* with nominal 18 V footnote. Stated as the published 20 V max / 18 V nominal pair, not as a single invented figure.
- Electric fence / magnetic strip: the spec table marks Electric fence, and the box list includes a magnetic strip and staples. Page marketing still says no perimeter wire. This listing does not treat the magnetic strip as a buried boundary requirement.
- Image: official product still is the US PDP list / schema chassis render shared with KR172 (
KR172_list.pngonpage cache). The softer OGop_image_…1980x.webpside crop was rejected for blur/fringing; this list still is the sharp whole-machine studio shot on white/transparent.

Honest verdict
At $1,050.99 on sale from $2,099.99 (15 Oct 2026), the KR161 is the small end of Kress’s US Mission RTKⁿ line: up to 0.25 acre, network RTKⁿ without a yard base station, no perimeter wire, a 7.87-inch cut, and a 40% work-area slope rating, with 4G marked on the spec table. What you still give up is acreage headroom, deck width, and steep-hill capability.
The hard limit is that quarter-acre cap and the 40% slope. If the lawn is larger, the same US catalog steps to KR172 and above. If the yard is steep enough to want published AWD at 70%+, this is the wrong class. Buy the KR161 when the grass area is truly inside 0.25 acre and the draw is wire-free RTKⁿ without siting your own reference station.
