Husqvarna Automower 440 iQ

Wire-free EPOS for up to 2-acre systematic mowing — 1-acre irregular rating, 45% in-lawn / 15% at-boundary slope, and the included EPOS reference station are the real limits.

What it is

Husqvarna Automower 440 iQ is a residential, EPOS satellite-mapped robot mower. The US/CA SKU is 970 72 76-01. Husqvarna leads with 2 acre lawn size (±20%) — the same figure as area capacity — systematic. Area capacity — irregular is 1 acre. Boundary type is virtual wire or physical wire. A normal install does not require buried loop wire.

The box includes the mower, charging station, 6 extra blades, 33 ft low-voltage cable, power supply, 100 stakes, EPOS Plug-in, and EPOS Reference station. Loop wire is not included. US dealer carts were $4,299.99 on 30 Aug 2026. husqvarna.com has no visible cart.

Who it’s for

Large yards that will use EPOS virtual mapping — stay-out zones, transport paths, and systematic patterns from the Automower Connect app — and that actually measure at or under 2 acres when mowed systematically. If the lawn is irregular, Husqvarna’s own capacity figure is 1 acre. Official slope is 45% inside the work area and 15% at the boundary. It is the wrong machine if the grass is over about two acres, if the layout is a messy acre-plus, or if you need all-wheel drive (that is a different SKU).

Honest verdict

This is the large-yard iQ Automower for a systematic ~2-acre lawn: EPOS virtual mapping, 9.4 in deck, IPX5, no buried wire required. The catch is capacity and terrain — Husqvarna itself rates irregular layouts at 1 acre, in-lawn slope at 45% (15% at the boundary), and the install still includes an EPOS reference station. It is not the 435X AWD or 435 iQ AWD.
